JUDGES’ BLOGS

The Credibles are here to save Singapore from bad plays!

Providing on-the-spot, no-holds-barred comments and critique are The Credibles, three fearlessly opinionated judges whose goal is to save Singapore from bad plays. The identities of Mr Credible, Bash and Inflexica may or may not be revealed at Theatre Idols.

Words from Mr Credible

... “When ACTION Theatre approached me to be a judge on Theatre Idols, I said yes because I wasn't invited to be a judge for Singapore Idols.

My friendly advice to the playwrights who would be taking part in Theatre Idols is to be epidermally reinforced. In other words, have a thick skin to withstand the stings and barbs that might come your way.

Also, be warned, as a Theatre Idols judge, I am likely to be equivocal.”

Words from Bash

... “When approached, I said yes because -- Ekachai (Artistic Director of ACTION Theatre) used his “never fail with Bash” technique of asking me in the middle of a good Thai meal where I was sitting still.

My friendly advice? What friendly advice? I'm supposed to be friendly at Theatre Idols?!

As a Theatre Idol judge I will be… Not much different than I am in real life. So yes, be afraid. Be very afraid.”

Words from Inflexica

... “When ACTION Theatre approached me to be a judge on Theatre Idols, I said yes because having witnessed more than my fair share of lousy plays, I wanted to do my part for the society by killing bad scripts before they get anywhere near a stage.

Be warned, as a Theatre Idols judge, I am long on cynicism and short on tolerance.”
